Volunteer Home Visiting
Home visiting programs using volunteers (usually from the community) provide a purposeful offer of a supportive relationship in a less structured format in order to enhance family and social functioning during the postnatal period and throughout the formative years in a child’s development.
Social support has been operationalised in volunteer home visiting programs to directly provide emotional, informational and instrumental support. Volunteer home visiting programs help parents to make contact with resources and services. They can also provide practical assistance, parent craft and take the family on outings.
